Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I had a good sport experience with my coaches then taught University before having kids. When my kids started school, I wanted to help younger kids love learning as much as I do. When you love to learn, life is never boring!

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

There are so many…. the best part is always seeing one reach their dreams & goals by growing a life-long learning mindset. Developing life-long connections to see some of my students becoming teachers themselves has been rewarding and I have even had the honor to experience teaching some my students’ children!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

My classes & I like the fact that the courses integrate many areas in an applicable way. Having a multi-grade remote class this year because of the pandemic, the program applies to all students & they can proceed at their own pace. The bonus is that they are in French Immersion & can be applied bilingually. There are not enough online French programs available for suitable content. What is not to love about hockey as Canadians?

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They are very excited as it is very visual & they love a challenge. Some are learning more than the outcomes expected in the units since not being in a building because of the pandemic; they are learning to be more independent learners & problem solvers.
